Organized in partnership with the Maison de l’Entreprise du Burkina Faso – a non-profit association that supports business development in the country – the Pepite Award by the L'OCCITANE Foundation this year rewards three innovative projects; three projects by women entrepreneurs in Burkina Faso. The first is a project to produce biodegradable packaging, presented by Kadiatou MOUKORO/BAGAYOGO. The second is devoted to the extension of a breeding unit of native chickens by Adeline GO/TOE. The last, conceived by Aude Claudine KI/OUEDRAOGO, aims to strengthen the capacity of a combined agricultural, forestry and animal husbandry farm.
What is the purpose of the award? To encourage entrepreneurship in Burkina Faso and facilitate the empowerment of women while also guaranteeing the employment of locals. The L'OCCITANE Pepite Award attributes the sum of €10,000 to the three winners, of which €3,000 is used to finance support from the Maison de l’Entreprise du Burkina Faso.
This action completes the Foundation’s overall engagement. Since its inception in 2006, 900 women have been taught to read and write, 6,000 have been able to access a microcredit to develop income-generating activities, and 6 women have been accompanied to help grow their business.
