Setting Sight on a Brighter Future

L’Occitane Australia first partnered with The Fred Hollows Foundation in 2021 to help restore sight in Australia and close the gap in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander eye health. This year, we are continuing our commitment throughout the month of October to celebrate World Sight Day on Thursday October 10th.

Being a natural beauty brand, our core focus is to harness the very best of what nature has to offer to create products that allow for a sensorial experience that delight and enchant the senses, including sight. This is why we are dedicated to helping build a world where everyone can experience and enjoy the beauty of nature.

Our Partnership

The Fred Hollows Foundation’s mission is to end avoidable blindness and vision impairment and over the past 30 years it has restored sight to more than 3 million people globally. To collaborate locally, we have awarded our annual Caring for Sight grant to The Fred Hollows Foundation for the second year in recognition of the work they do to promote eye health in Australia.

Currently, 94% of current vision loss experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people is treatable or preventable. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are four times more likely to wait more than one year for cataract surgery than non-Indigenous Australians. L’Occitane’s goal is to make a meaningful difference and improve access to eye care within these communities.

We have committed $55,000 in 2024-2025 towards The Fred Hollows Foundation to continue to fund much needed services helping to better eye health for Australia’s First Nations communities through The Foundation's Indigenous Australia Program.

1 Hand Cream = $2 Donated

To contribute to this donation, from 1st to the 31st of October, 2024 we are pledging to donate $2 for every hand cream sold in stores and online* to The Foundation, to provide eye care services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

The donation will go towards addressing the gap in eye health (where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are three times more likely to go blind than other Australians).

The Fred Hollows Foundation

The Fred Hollows Foundation is inspired by the work of the late Professor Fred Hollows - an eye doctor who championed the right of all people to high quality and affordable eye care and good health.
