Local Initiatives
L'OCCITANE as a brand is built on strong values of authenticity, respect and generosity: contributing to the development of local communities, protecting our precious biodiversity and caring for our people and partnerships. As cultivators of change, we are always looking to how we can contribute to our environmental and social commitments. To deliver against this vision, we will start by focusing on the following commitments: Reducing Waste, Caring For Sight and Respecting Biodiversity. Here are a few examples of how our teams are already making a difference locally.
Reducing Waste
Brewed By L'Occitane Pop Up
We are excited to announce our 3rd eco-friendly pop up experience in Warringah Mall, Sydney: Brewed By L'Occitane. From 24th March - 16th April 2023, we invite you to visit, explore and discover our mission as Cultivators Of Change through our values of Reducing Waste and Respecting Biodiversity. This pop up highlights our zero waste innovation, Refill Fountain, as well as other activities on offer to participate in.
Sustainable Green Store
As part of our commitment to being cultivators of change, we are thrilled to be taking action at a local level with the opening of our “Green Store”, a milestone in our sustainability journey. Working with the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA), the nation’s most renowned organisation in green building, we have converted our Westfield Bondi Junction Boutique into a fully-functional, 5-star rated and to be certified Green Store. Such a qualification recognises a standard of excellence in sustainable and environmentally conscious design, construction and operation.
Refill Fountain
Our new Green Store is the first boutique of its kind to include our innovative Refill Fountain, our latest initiative to contribute to the reduction of waste. Already rolled out in selected boutiques across Europe, the USA and Asia, these fountains offer consumers a unique opportunity to bring home some of their favourite L’Occitane products waste-free.
Paving the way towards a plastic free future, consumers simply select their product and a L’Occitane Forever Bottle. These bottles allows consumers to not only top up on their favourite products without creating more waste, but also save financially. In addition, each return and refill using your forever bottle saves on average 20.
Caring For Sight
Fred Hollows Partnership
On World Sight Day, we announced our partnership with The Fred Hollows Foundation as part of our ongoing commitment to caring for sight. We recognise the work they do to promote eye health in Australia, particularly for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who are three times more likely to go blind than other Australians.
Through this grant, we will support the role of an Aboriginal Liaison Officer who provides emotional, social and cultural support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and their families accessing much needed eye health care in Central Australia.
Respecting Biodiversity
Bushfire Recovery
As part of our global commitment to help regenerate our land after the devastating bushfires early 2020, L’OCCITANE Australia has partnered with the charity partner for Australia’s National Parks, the Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife (FNPW), to help plant one million trees, to restore natural habitats, native vegetation and support wildlife rehabilitation efforts.
Funded by the L’OCCITANE Ecosystem Restoration Fund, created in early 2020 by the L’OCCITANE Group to support ecosystems that are severely affected by natural disasters, we will donate $228,000* to FNPW as part of an initial two-year commitment.
