Shea Butter

A Unique And Festive Collaboration

Painted in the blue of CASTELBAJAC Paris and set against the Constellations of Values, the L'OCCITANE Shea Butter collection looks bold and beautiful for Christmas. It carries a strong message behind our partnership that began in 1990, to create a fair trade, sustainable supply chain with Burkinable women. In the beginning there were about a dozen women producing shea butter by hand. Now there are over 10,000 women working to fufil L'OCCITANE orders and using mechanised equipment.

Shea Butter

Comfort & Nourish
Shea Butter has been used for centuries by Sub-Saharan African women to nourish and protect skin and hair, Shea Butter is an ideal beauty ingredient. These molecules have exceptional properties and help to moisturise, nourish and give extra protection to the skin every day.

Shea Butter is a beauty balm ideal for dry to very dry skin. It restores the hydrolipid film for skin that is softer, more supple and more comfortable. Shea trees dot the landscape in Burkina Faso, where hot winds blow sand and dust daily across the Savannah. To protect their skin from the harsh conditions, women have used Shea Butter for generations.

L'OCCITANE has worked with women producing Shea Butter in Burkina Faso since the 1980s with an objective of co-development. With its creation in 2006, the L'OCCITANE Foundation chose to extend this partnership with the women of this country to concentrate its actions on supporting women.
