Empowering Women
Shop To Empower Women
At L’OCCITANE, we believe in gender equality and empowering women to achieve their goals. The production of Shea Butter in Burkina Faso is known as ‘women’s gold’ as only females are allowed to harvest the nuts to create the divine butter. Through the L'OCCITANE Foundation, they have supported over 42,000 women in Burkina Faso, who work to produce our shea butter ingredient. Without L'OCCITANE's commitment, more than 3.7 million women would still live in a state of poverty in Burkina Faso.

Our Commitment
The story of L'OCCITANE and the women shea butter producers of Burkina Faso began in the 1980s. Since then, we've built up a joint development partnership and a close, supportive relationship. There were about a dozen women at first. Now there are over 10,000!
